CAMPGROUND
LISTINGS
The Sturbridge Region spreads
east and west just south of Worcester. The gently rolling hills,
sparkling lakes and streams, and private camping areas of the
region, reflect the natural heritage of central Massachusetts.
Museums, visitors centers,
flee markets, and antique shows will capture your interest. Hiking,
fishing, boating, and golf are a few of the sports opportunities
open to visitors.
Traveling south and
east from Rte. I-495 through East Douglas, Webster and Southbridge,
the lakes and scenery call to visitors, campers, and sportsman.
Old Rte. 20 weaves in and out of historical settings from Worcester,
to Sturbridge and west to Brimfi eld. Connecting Worcester and
Douglas is Rte 146, a beautiful drive, complete with waterfalls
& lakes. The beauty of the lake and hill country spreads west
of Worcester along Rte. 9 toward West Brookfield and Ware.
In the Center of the
Region lies Old Sturbridge Village, a four season, living museum
of over 40 buildings and 200 acres. Interpreters and guides,
dressed in period costumes, from the fields and carry out the
daily chores as they would have in the 1800's. Throughout the
years, visitors are invited to join the special events, tours
and celebrations of this rural New England settlement.
